Cookie Policy
Version 0.1.0 · Last updated: 2026-XX-XX
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit, making your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.
We use cookies in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and UK GDPR. This policy explains which cookies we use, why, and how you can control them.
2. Essential cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to function. They cannot be switched off because the service depends on them. They do not require consent under PECR.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __session | Clerk | Authentication session token | Session / 7 days |
| __client_uat | Clerk | Client-side auth state synchronisation | Session |
| __clerk_db_jwt | Clerk | Development-mode authentication | Session (dev only) |
| cc-locale | Certified Coach | Language / locale preference | 1 year |
| cc_cookie | Certified Coach | Stores your cookie consent choices | 6 months |
3. Analytics cookies
We do not currently use analytics cookies. If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting any analytics cookies.
4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third-party services that appear on our pages:
- Clerk: sets authentication cookies required for sign-in and session management. These are essential cookies.
- Stripe (future): when payment features are introduced, Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing. These will be documented here before launch.
5. How to manage cookies
You can control cookies through the consent banner that appears when you first visit the site, or through your browser settings:
- Our consent banner: allows you to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or manage your preferences. You can change your choice at any time by clicking “Cookie preferences” in the site footer.
- Browser settings: most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Consult your browser's help documentation for instructions.
Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the platform from working correctly, particularly authentication and sign-in.
6. More information
For more about how we handle your personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
If you have questions about cookies, contact us at privacy@certified-coach.com.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when we add or remove cookies. Material changes will be communicated via a refreshed consent banner.
